Honestly glad I read it. I'm always hungry for fiction that draw on radical leftist understandings of power and the world. I didn't expect Roland to be my favourite character but he really, really is.

*pats the side of the audiobook* This baby can hold SO MANY trigger warnings, but nothing feels especially exploitative or shock value-y, and the isms come almost exclusively from religious bigots, and are only dominant themes for part of the book. It's just a hard story set in a hard world, with some comfort and pleasure packed in around the edges, where folk can find it
