Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I listened to the audiobook version of this, which was fantastic. The voice actors really did a phenomenal job, and although there were a few times I didn’t know what character was speaking, the ensemble cast was perfect.

As for the book itself… this is like flipping the channel and watching a documentary about a band you’ve never heard of. And watching hours of it because you’re mildly curious and you’re too lazy to change the channel. I felt myself wishing that I was listening to the actual music/album instead of watching the documentary about it.

This is a slow build. The first half of the book took me a really long time to get through. I didn’t really care too much for the characters, and it wasn’t until the second half where I started to feel a bit more invested - and where hearing the different characters’ perspectives added depth to the story. By the last quarter of the book, I started to care about Daisy, Billy, Camila, and Karen but then it ends.

It’s a decent read but just wished I had enjoyed it more, especially given the hype.
