The Wild Silence by Raynor Winn

4.0

I enjoyed the Wild Silence more than the Salt Path. The Salt Path reads rather like a list at times: we did this one day; we did that the other day. The style of writing here is more mature and less entitled. It isn't without criticism, though: the later part of the book - the trail walking in Iceland - was a weak part for me.

Although I'm in a Mountaineering Club, and therefore identity keenly with themes of hill walking, rock climbing, wild camping etc, I think these took over too much: Raynor Winn seems to be a more assured, confident writer when she reflects on more mundane topics.
