Serenading Heartbreak by Ella Fields
4.0

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars for this- the beautiful writing is what brought it up to 4. Ella has a fantastic way of setting scenes and giving beautiful descriptions, however, the way this book ended was what let it down for me. I found Ever to be cringey at times and I found it hard to read some parts that he was in as I just found his character horrible. At the start, prior to them sleeping together for the first time, I didn’t find him too bad but once their ‘relationship’ had started his character fell downhill. Especially once Aiden came into the picture, his charm, his flirty personality, his whole existence in the book brightened everything up. To say I was disappointed with the ending would be an understatement, I would rather live in an alternative world were such a typical predictable ending wasn’t written and Stevie didn’t go back to the childhood crush who was horrible to her throughout just because he was her ‘first love’.

I’m not a massive fan of unexpected pregnancy tropes, and normally I avoid books with them in, however I didn’t find it too hard to read in this book. I was just incredibly disappointed when she went back to Ever after all he put her through, especially leaving her during her pregnancy.

I think I’m going to have to come to terms with the fact that it’s always the sweetest, most loving one who I adore that never gets chosen in love triangles- the a**hole always wins.
