The Lawrence Browne Affair by Cat Sebastian

5.0

I initially started reading this book to see if it were written as a serious romance novel, not one where a woman is just replaced with a man and all of the intentions, speech patterns, conversations, sounding like one between a man and a woman. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that this historical romance truly felt like two men who were falling in love. I absolutely adored this book and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was part of a series, even if it weren't the first one. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romances. It's well written, the characters are fully fleshed out, and the plot sweeps you along. Added to this is the fact that being gay was illegal at this time, so there's also a sense of apprehension that they will get caught and a question of how will they manage to live happily ever after?
