0/5🌶️ (it doesn’t need it tbh)

(competition, trials, magic, politics, assasin, badass FMC, royalty, just so fucking good pls read it)

THIS IS MY FAVORITE SERIE EVER and it has my favorite FMC so im biased but idc

Let me start by saying that this is the weakest book in TOG and there’s nothing wrong with it bc YOU NEED to read it to then go to the next one and it picks up TRUST ME. you will regret it if you don’t get through it

i’m rereading it for the first time and i have to say that compared with the other books i feel like it lacks action sometimes so i did lose a bit of interest in certain parts of the middle but I GET IT.
For me this book is mainly for you to get to know the characters and Cel and get a bit of a taste of what the plot will look like in the future.
I love it because you get so familiar with her and it makes you root for her every time even when she messes up because you feel like you know her and i found myself defending her even tho her decisions were not always the right ones. she’s my bitch fr.

I love the beginning sooo much
(i always reread the meeting of Chaol and Dorian with Celaena) from the departure from Endovier to the test of the competition…chefs kiss.
then in the middle i got distracted a little bit at times and lost a bit of motivation bc i don’t really like love triangles (even tho it’s barely there) and i never liked dorian in this book lol, so i got the ick whenever they were together…also i wanted to skip Kaltain’s pov bc i was so invested in Cel pov even tho it is important to read it, so yeah
BUT THEN you get towards the end and get know FINALLY about the wyrdmarks and then cain and the duel and it’s sooo good

so to sum it up this is nostalgic to me and i love getting to know Celaena but i just wanted to finish it and get to the next books bc its when everything starts to make real sense and nothing stops from there, it’s literally the calm before the storm

PLS JUST READ UNTIL HEIR OF FIRE IF YOU WANT TO GIVE UP.
I PROMISE YOU CROWN OF MIDNIGHT IS GOOD BUT HEIR OF FIRE IS WHERE ITS AT, THEN YOU CAN DECIDE. Ok BYEEEE
