Black House by Stephen King
3.0

I really hate when an author tells me things too soon, such as the identity of a killer in a book that is posing partially as a murder mystery, so I was a bit disgruntled by this one. It also suffered from King's pet conceit in which he has to introduce everyone in a town, and intermittently let you know just what everyone in that town is doing. It makes things too slow-paced for me, and it's just excessive information. So, both of those things made me enjoy this less than I could have.

I did like the linkage to the Dark Tower series here, though, with the information about the Breakers, the Crimson King, etc. I'm glad to have read it for those reasons. I enjoyed the characters of Jack and of Henry as well, and their friendship was quite cute. The writing was about what I expected, which is to say, too long, but pretty well done.

I think most of all, I'm excited to move on to the next official Dark Tower book, having satisfied my urge to read some of the related works with this latest foray. Here's to finishing the Dark Tower series in 2020!
