Starting off, I really liked this book. I really related to and loved the character of Jayne and enjoyed the stories surrounding her. I don’t usually read these type of more contemporary fiction books but I really enjoyed it.
I read one review’s trigger warnings and for me, those are all book green flags
. Going in, I was expecting a dual perspective (based on the book’s description). I think it’s important to know that this is a character study on Jayne, not June or the rest, and Jayne is the central and focal character. I wish June and the other side character’s received more “screetime” and development somewhat. Also, as a Gilmore Girls fan, I loved every reference to the show. The book’s not winning a nobel prize anytime soon but I enjoyed it.
