Half Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer

1.0

I read this to my six-year-old. He really enjoyed it; me, not so much. I should have known, because I bought it remaindered at Powell's Books for Kieran's Epiphany gift (my husband's family tradition is that the three kings leave a small gift in your shoes on Epiphany Day), and my oldest son, aged 13, said he'd read it and it wasn't very good. Chris tends to be not a very critical person, so the fact he didn't like it should have warned me.

We were in the midst of reading about four books at once, and Kieran seemed to be the most interested in this one, to my chagrin. I found it to be overwritten and boring. I vastly preferred Roald Dahl's Matilda, which was another one of the books we've been reading.
