A Stroke of the Pen is a fabulous and really fun collection of Terry Pratchett's earliest stories, serialised in newspapers throughout the 1970s and lovingly collated in recent years.

It's so wonderful to read these early stories and see the ideas for his later books starting to formulate. They're lovely, quick, short reads on the whole, stuffed with quirky, fun ideas and characters that are believable, no matter the odd situations they find themselves within.

As someone who's spent the last two years working their way through both sets of audiobooks of the Discword series - the old and the new - it was joyful to read these early tales, and I'm grateful to the individuals involved for taking the time and effort to track down the stories.

The foreword by Neil Gaiman succinctly sums up Terry's legacy and brings a very human touch to this collection of tales.
