The Life of Charlotte Brontë by Elizabeth Gaskell
3.0
This took me a while because it's not exactly a book you can binge, but I really enjoyed it. I like the way it mixes Gaskell's narration with Brontë's real letters. One of my favorite things from this was the way the editor's notes seem to be talking directly to the reader regarding a lot of the choices Gaskell made while writing this. I also loved seeing the changes in the second and third editions, and everything surrounding the biography itself (what was left out and why, who got offended at what, etc.). It has a lot of layers.
