Savage Rivals
by Becca Steele
Rated 3.5
I received this book as an ARC and this is my first book by this author.
2 Boys on opposite teams with a rivalry that extends to verbal abuse, threats and physical violence .
Oh and let’s not forget the good parts…tension, attraction and *shudder*…*whispers*..feelings!
I liked and disliked things about this book and the reason there are parts that I disliked stems purely from the fact that I struggle to switch off when something goes beyond the realistic. Many people are able to do it and I know myself that once I can that I will enjoy a book more.
On this occasion I powered through and was left reasonably satisfied with the result.
A lot of this book is far fetched. The boys are 18 and there are practically no adults in sight. There is destruction of property, breaking and entering , assault and possession of deadly weapons to name a few! However what this book doesn’t contain is homophobia which was great to see in a book about a couple of young guys with a gay-for-you rivalry theme and as I said above, once I managed to look past some of the more excessive things, I found myself enjoying the tension and sexual attraction between both MC’s. Surprisingly some of this book turned sweet towards the end and it was nice to see supportive friends and family!
I’d happy give this author another go.
