Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days by Chris Guillebeau

5.0

If you are interested in starting a income-generating side project, this is a good book to read. For those who are new to Chris Guillebeau and "side hustles," the info will be fresh and new. This isn't your typical business productivity book or even your typical business entrepreneurship book. The advice isn't to get an MBA or to start out thinking venture capital, 6 figures, large staffs. Instead, Chris encourages potential side hustlers to start now, before you're 100% ready. He often says inspiration is good; inspiration + action is so much better.

I will admit that I've listened to his podcast of the same name since Day One. I've had a side hustle for a couple of years and would like to expand it. In the podcast and in the book, Chris gives you examples to learn from - real people who started small. Some make it big; some just generate a regular side income they can put towards extras. Everyone benefits from the effort, though.

If you also listen to the podcast, the first quarter of the book might be a little repetitive from what you've heard. The examples are all ones you hear him describe on air. But the steps are much more laid out in the book than in podcast. Chris is very concrete and suggests tools and ideas along the way. The book is not designed to make you a millionaire tomorrow; it is designed to get you thinking and, most of all, starting with your idea. Chris considers a lot of the things you'll have to consider and he gives lots of ideas for systematizing your efforts.

I was provided an advanced reader copy with the request that I would review the book. The review is my own and reflects my honest opinion.
