This story follows Laney, who is on the run and lying low in a small town under the protection of the Fox brothers, owners of a bourbon distillery. But one brother, Grant Foxx, doesn’t approve of this new arrangement. Still, Laney gets under his skin, and he’s determined to find out why she’s really come to town.
This was a funny, mysterious, and delicious read. The audiobook is fantastic too—definitely pick it up in that format! The chemistry and flirty banter, paired with the grumpy MMC, had me swooning. The slow burn and tension were just right. I found myself smiling and even laughing out loud a few times. I loved all the family members and the start to this series, which I assume will continue with another brother in the next book. The spice was brilliant, and Grant’s filthy mouth had me weak. The things he said to her? Absolutely melted me.
I will say, the plot felt a little light when it came to Laney’s past and what led her to this situation. We got a brief explanation, but I was hoping for more detail and depth.
Overall, I had a fantastic time with this book! Highly recommend.
