The Flux by Ferrett Steinmetz
5.0
Ferrett Steinmetz already did such a good job worldbuilding with his debut novel Flex, and I wasn't quite sure how he'd top that with The Flux. I mean, I was excited for the new book, regardless - I'd get to read more about Paul, and Valentine, and of course Aliyah, the youngest 'mancer in history. But would it be more of the same? Another bad 'mancer threatening the city, Paul doing anything and everything to save his little girl? Well... yes and no. Paul is a devoted father, and he will lay his own life on the line for Aliyah's safety. But sometimes the bad guy looks an awful lot like the good guys, and sometimes the choices that seem right turn out to be disastrous.
The Flux dives even deeper into the fantastic universe that Steinmetz built, introducing new characters and fleshing out old ones. I won't lie, I cried. A few times. But damn, was it worth it.
