Just for the Summer
by Abby Jimenez
I really love Abby Jimenez! When I need a book I know I can count on to deliver, she’s the first author I think of!
AJ writes male characters that totally make a girl swoon. I don’t know how realistic they are, bc they’re damn near perfect, but I love how each of them (especially in this series) are so attentive, selfless, and kind.
I especially love the setting on this series too! All set in Minnesota, each one of these books made me want to pack up and move! I don’t know much about this area of the IS, but the books make it feel like the idyllic place to be!
The one thing I couldn’t get past in this book was Emma’s mom. Maybe one of the most annoying characters I’ve ever met, she definitely kept me from being able to fully enjoy this one. I found her “relationship” such a stretch and honestly, it’s these kinds of things that make me hesitant to pick up romances on the regular. I understand she was there to fully develop Emma’s character and issues, but I think that also could have been accomplished with her off-page. She irked me so bad that it absolutely kept this one from being a 5-star read for me.
