A Very Nice Girl by Imogen Crimp

5.0

Polished, sharp, beautiful writing. I found this a substantive and intimate look into how the patriarchy seeps into our personal relationships not through big, sweeping motions but more so through subtle and tricky nags. There’s no denying Max was a negative shaping force in Anna’s life, but it’s clear he didn’t set out to be a manipulative and abusive partner — more so that he was unaware of the power dynamics inherent to their relationship.
