Reads like YA romance, aka rich heroine and poor vaquero who are best friends as children, a surprise reunion, forced proximity, said heroine learning how to shoot and fight from the vaquero, and lots and lots of emotional choices made in an instant. Oh and there are vampires thrown in. Despite that, I wouldn’t really call it a horror novel. It’s more like a historical romance, with some horror elements. It’s a 3 star read for me, but I can see how this would really work if you’re in the right mood for this type of book.
