The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
4.0

I am a sucker for dystopian future books, so I have read quite a few. This one has been the first since The Hunger Games that has drawn me in and kept me without having to take week long breaks. There are points where I could predict what was going to happen, sure, but it was refreshing to read a good main character with an interesting premise behind her.

Slight spoiler ahead.

Too often I find YA books, especially dystopian books, take a sharp turn toward a romance that seems to appear out of nowhere (I'm looking at you, Divergent). Thankfully, Liam and Ruby have rapport with one another so their (slightly confusing) relationship with one another feels real.

I am beyond excited to rip through book #2 and see what Bracken has in store for Ruby.
