 3.5 🌟 (7/10)

I’m trying to go through my physical tbr and all those are actually young adult books that I bought before the pandemic around 3-4 years ago and at that time I was very much into young adult.
Pushing Perfect caught my attention because I related a lot to the synopsis. I’m literally one of those high school students who obsess over their future. And although I’ve now accepted that I should chill a lot more and just try my best and see where life gets me, at the time, I got really interested in this book and wanted to see how Kara would handle her situation. I definitely DID NOT expect this book to be so much more than just that.

Pushing Perfect is a young adult mystery. And I’m not saying anything more. I loved the small mystery and suspense and I found myself flipping page after page just to finish the plot, hence, I finished this book in a few hours in one sitting. The book centered a lot on the plot, self-growth, and friendship and it was very cute, quick read. I had a bit of a problem with some characters and a specific minor trope of a minor character which is why this book got a lower rating that I would’ve given it.
I mean, why does Justin have to have a relationship with a teacher?? And fine, they broke up, but just that really put me off. I’m happy it’s quite minor.
Even though it became quite predictable nearer the end, I still had a nice time reading until the end. I would recommend this to those in middle school to high school, if you want a quick mysterious read!
