The Burning Page by Genevieve Cogman
4.0

Easily the best of the series so far, this book balances the entertainment with a healthy dollop of end of the Library stakes even as certain "ahem" personal relationships begin to play out :)

What's more intriguing is Irene's backstory. So far we have been given tantalizing hints of it, but in this, the seeds of her backstory blossoming into something significant is firmly implanted. The return of Alberich makes it even more spectacular as are his actions are directed firmly towards destroying the Library. There are also multiple repercussions of the previous book on Irene, Kai and Vale and also the tension between the characters.

This book was a neat balance of the worldbuilding combined with the nonstop pounding pace of an actioneer along with certain intriguing quiet confrontations that are designed to build up things for the future. The only thing to complain would be the ending. A bit too pat and convenient, it was a misstep. That being said, so far from what we have seen of Alberich, its kind of a mystery how he's been so highly regarded as an enemy to the Library
