If you’re looking for a book that’s complicated, wrapped in plot and contemplative with its message; this isn’t the book for you. Don’t get me wrong— I like this book! It’s got romance, tension, likeable characters and fantasy. But it isn’t anything revolutionary and I wouldn’t call it amazing. For me, it was a bit of a guilty pleasure read as I have a secret liking for steamy romance and fantasy entangled between that. So overall a good book but nothing amazing. If you are like me then I highly recommend continuing through the series to the second book— it is the best of the series and where plot really starts to come in. That’s probably why I gave it 3.25 stars just because the next book is way better.
