This book didn't hit like the previous two. The plot moved slowly and the main storyline was stressful for over half of the book.
I wanted all of the characters together, not kidnapped! I enjoyed the book a lot more once everyone was reunited, though it was very convenient the way it happened.

Cress was boring and I didn't care about her. She was likeable but her story simply stressed me out. Thorne was also quite harsh to her for a long time. Cutting her hair off was such a violation - he should have asked first instead of demanded. Also, poor Dr. Erland! He did his best.

I still loved Cinder and Kai and their stories were interesting, but Scarlet and Wolf were not in this book much. It felt like they were sidelined for the other two storylines.

The villains of the book were good enough and my feelings towards them were the same as the previous books. It was great when Sybil got hit karma.

It seems that these books always start slow and then become exponentially epic towards the end. Unfortunately, it took longer for that part to hit this time.
