Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg

5.0

This makes me feel close to my queer and trans elders. And helps me understand the generational trauma I carry even without being directly descended from them.

When I was young and desperate for representation, I watched Boys Don't Cry and assumed my life would be like that. Through luck and times changing, I've avoided most of the brutality the old school butches and transmascs faced. I owe people like Leslie Feinberg an enormous debt for surviving long enough to fight for our community. But even if ze had done nothing but exist, it would have been enough.

And it's bullshit that we still have to worry about where to pee.

Rest in Power
And the world is our restroom
