The Trouble With Vampires by Lynsay Sands

4.0

I chose this book because I wanted something light and fluffy. Unlike most of the other books in this series, this one isn't very light. Both Pet and Santo have a tortured tragic past, which we had to relive. It was dark, sad, and included torture scenes.

I didn't particularly care for Santo, but Pet was one of my favorite heroines of the series. She's spunky and kicks butt.
Spoiler(Although I hated it when she froze and closed her eyes when the big bad attacked her in the end. It was completely out of character! Why create a touch character, only to turn her into a damsel in distress!)

One of the best parts of the book was Pet's nephew Parker. He was smart and sweet and a great kid. The best scene in the book was when Parker, then Santo, was teasing Pet about her cooking.

I hate the whole life mates thing part of this series, but the author did a good job of having the characters get to know each other, so it wasn't all attraction.

The bad guy was a bit underwhelming. I kept expecting the Brass Circle to play a bigger part.
SpoilerAlso, how did no one figure out that the guy who killed their parents was Quinn's life mate? No, it's not revealed here. I assume it will be in Quinn's book.
