I’m late to the party I know, but I really enjoyed this. It’s a collection of stories that are connected through the characters and an over-arching storyline. The stories all bring something different into the mix be it a haunted house, cosmic horror, alchemy and dark magic, and the most horrific of all, the terrible things humans do to each other, particularly when it comes to racism. I definitely appreciated the social commentary within the book. This is very well written and the author does a fantastic job of capturing the time period of the early 1950s in America. The characters are complex and realistic and I was definitely rooting for them throughout the book.  There were some creepy parts as well particularly in Horace and the Devil Doll!  I loved the nods to scifi classics and comics also.  Glad to have finally read this.
