Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

Oh yes. Now THAT is a dragon book. That is how you make a fantasy species feel real and a crossbreed interesting. I honestly loved Seraphina’s uncle, and Kiggs (sp? I listened to it, so) was an actually interesting love interest! Their conversations had layers! The world breathed and lived in her city and in far reaches mentioned offhandedly.
Seraphina made mistakes and triumphed and hated herself in a latrine (that scene KILLED me) and I loved her.

The audiobook was good. Most of the readers I’ve listened to recently have been American, so the accent surprised me, but made sense. She couldn’t really hold a tune/didn’t want to sing maybe though, so the song parts were a little weird.
