I recommended this book to my Grandma who used to have a golden retriever who looked a little like Marley. I loved the entire journey this family went through and I relate to it because I had a dog as a child and will probably have the kind of experience the Grogan family did when we get a family pet when our kids are bigger. The movie doesn't look like it fits the book exactly- but I still want to see it Christmas Day!
