Had a blast with this. I didn't expect to empathize with Murderbot as much as I did. As i reached the end of the book, I just desperately wanted Murderbot to have its happy ending. (It doesn't have preferred pronouns so it goes by "it"). For a book that's less than 200 hundred pages long, it does a great job of setting up the conflict, both short-term and series-long while giving us a compelling lead. It's just that the lead is a Security Unit that has an addiction to soap operas and may or may not have gone on a killing spree.

Looking forward to picking up more books in the series but will be pacing myself. I suspect this series will be harder on my emotions than I anticipated.
