The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner

2.0

I gave this book a reluctant two stars because some of the writing is done quite well. The majority, however, grated on my nerves. As a writer myself, I became irked by the fact that there were large chunks of text with no punctuation. I know this is William Faulkner, but he didn't seem to understand how to use commas, periods, apostrophes, or even quotation marks. Furthermore, there seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to when he would use the proper punctuation or go without. He would travel from beautiful, coherent language and imagery to confusing, unintelligible drivel in the blink of an eye. And the ending was AWFUL! Frankly, it made me rethink my life choices.
