Everything We Didn't Say by Nicole Baart
5.0
I was instantly hooked by the time I read the first chapter. That might have something to do with the fact that I'm an almost 40 librarian with a 13yo girl, and ties to Iowa. I could not have picked a better book to read! I loved how the past and present day worked together to tell the story, to put the pieces together of what happened 14 years ago in the small farming town of Jericho Iowa. The main character is likable and I saw a lot of myself in her. The story progression was perfect. Not overly detailing every little thing, you were given all the important bits that you needed. A love affair, sibling dynamics, family problems.... it all blends together well for a great read. The ending was a tad anti-climatic for me though as I had pretty much figured out who the killer was. There were a couple shocks here and there but overall, I would whole hardheartedly recommend reading.
