The Two Week Roommate by Roxie Noir

4.0

Roxie Noir never fails to disappoint. As new releases are announced, I get so excited - eager to see where her stories take us next!

The Two Week Roommate is the 2nd book of the Wildwood Society series, but it can be read as a standalone novel. The story between two ex-best friends, Gideon and Andi, takes readers on a new adventure after 20 years of no contact. Gideon is a forest ranger assigned to rescue Andi after she ties herself to a tree. - Yes she crazy. The unfortunate winter blizzard leaves them stranded, forced to spend two weeks together in a cozy cabin in the middle of the woods.

The banter between them was the best thing about this book. I loved how hilarious Andi was, as she has no filter whatsoever. Gideon was a strong hero with a dark and hidden past. His sensitivity caused emotions to stir, and I found myself rooting for the two of them very early on. There is also an unexpected seriousness to their story, which challenges the readers, allowing them to uncover Gideon's past, filled with emotional trauma caused by his parents and extreme religious beliefs.

I really enjoyed this one and will recommend it to anyone who loves second-chance stories with an element of forced proximity.
