Somebody, save the Colsons. Have they not been through enough? I’m not sure how they aren’t all having mental breakdowns and I hope every one of them is in therapy at least twice weekly.

Beautiful Exile isn’t quite what I expected. It is fast-paced and, though we get Arden’s story very quickly, we don’t delve into the ‘between’ years all that much, just at a high level. Similarly with Lincoln, we get his tale but we don’t hear much about his feelings. A lot of this book feels either high-level or just a little rushed. As soon as we start to get into the nitty gritty, it’s over.

Still, I enjoyed getting to know Arden more. She’s a sweet character and deserves every happiness. Lincoln is still a bit of a mystery to me. We don’t learn much about his day to day or business, and I think that’s a shame. I’d expect him to have very little time but he seems to be able to do what he wants when he wants, so who knows!

These Sparrow Falls plots are getting to be quite similar (woman in hiding, evil mastermind finds her), so I’d like to see something a bit different in the next book. Ellie seems lovely and I’m excited to see her get her fresh start. Trace’s story intrigues me too, so I’m really looking forward to Chasing Shelter.
