Noragami, Band 1

This was a manga that was returned to the library and the art style grabbed me. It was one of those, "That looks cool, I'll give it a shot" reads, and it payed off pretty well. I enjoyed the premise of the stray god Yato who is so far down in the God hierarchy that he needs to place his number across the city and charge people to get enough for a shrine. All he wants is worshipers and to make it big, but he doesn't seem to care too much about more important matters, which makes for great humor.
The girl Hiyori seems like she'd be a strong character and a possible love interest which will be funny to see. Also, Yukine reminds me of Hiro from Fruits Basket. Other than the main three characters, the concept of the Ayakashi is pretty interesting and their design is crazy. There are some that are kind of cute, like tiny fish or small spheres while others are like giant eels, or toad like creatures. They range from being totally disgusting to semi-cute, but they always revolve around depressed auras because they feed off them. It's a really cool premise and I'm excited to see what else comes up. Since this is only the first one there isn't too much to go off of, but I'm looking forward to reading more of this manga and even starting the anime.
I'd say the first one is 3.5/5 stars. It's a great introduction to the world and the three main characters, but other than getting Yato enough money for a shrine I'm not totally sure what the end goal could be. It could also be something for Hiyori since her spirit is separating from her body... So far, so good!
