The plot of Some Other Now was interesting and I was very invested in the story. Several issues such as grief, depression, neglect were handled with care. However, the execution felt lacking. I could not help but feel that there could have been more.

I felt for Jessi. It was not surprising that she felt very close to the Cohens, considering the neglect she faced from her own family. Mel Cohen was everything Jessi needed in a mother. It was good to see that her own mother's side was also put forth. She was trying her best but Jessi needed more.

I wish the story was also told from Luke's side. While Jessie was a well developed character, Luke felt one-dimensional. He was an important character in this book, there was so much potential to develop his side.

To sum it up, a solid effort worth reading.
