Rose Evans wants to be a modern day Giulia Tofana, a woman who does not want abusers to get away with their behaviour and free women of their captors.
She might be a sparrow with a broken wing, but that doesn’t stop her in helping others. Rose is not the type of woman to stop at a dead end and give up, she finds a new route, even if it makes getting somewhere more difficult.
Rose is quick witted but references the circus often, which means her jokes don’t always land.
Doctor Fionn Kane is afraid of himself and lives a life alone, barely living. Rose stumbles into his life and shows him how to live life outside of his home and office. She breathes life into him.
He sees her and isn’t afraid of what she does. The way this man describes Rose is attractive. He sees her strength but is still protective of her and wants to see her thrive.
He makes mistakes along the way and forgets that it’s okay to stumble, but eventually, he figures out how to make it up to Rose. He shows her exactly how he feels.
No notes, just praise. This was funny and dark. Rose and Fionn make sense together, I love how everyone sees it. They are two people who show each other that a weakness can be a strength hidden in plain sight.
I wasn’t expecting to bawl my eyes out several times near the end. I knew everything was going to be okay, but STILL! The letters were so heart wrenching, I felt those words in my soul. I think this one is my favourite out of the entire series. This one hit home for me in many ways.
Would I read this again? Yes.
