When this came up as a NetGalley read, I had no idea it was part of a series. You can read this as a standalone (which I did), but I wish I had known it had a series beforehand (my fault). Nevertheless, I actually found myself extremely gripped by this story. It’s dark and frustrating and hard to read at times, but I think that was the point. It was supposed to make you uncomfortable—it deals with tough things. I think I’d go back and read more of his works after this one. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my eARC!
All our courtroom tricks didn’t really matter in the end. We told the truth. And it was thanks to Taylor Avery that Andy was free. He had listened. And he had stood up and used his voice. He spoke up for someone because it was the right thing to do. It wasn’t political, it wasn’t for money. He had done the right thing, no matter how much it might cost him.
