What a read, such a fantastic, beautifully written book. I loved it. There are almost 2 stories here, the story of Afghanistan where Iearnt loads and then the story of Amir growing up with a similar aged servant boy Hassan. Amir is not particularly likeable, and he does some horrible things. Most of all, he is cowardly for not backing up for Hassan. My heart strings were well and truly pulled. It's inspiring, tender, heart-wrenching, devastating, but a beautiful, magical, and inspiring read.
