Wendy, Master of Art by Walter Scott

5.0

Wendy is an artist and she decides to apply to an art school in Hell, Ontario to better herself as an artist. Over the course of the program she details her wild tales of surviving art school. This graphic novel was so much fun to read. There was so much emotion put into this that the reader couldn’t help but be drawn in to Wendy’s adventures. This was very fast-paced and very hard to put down because the stories were so captivating and amusing. The plots were so entertaining; some were better than others, but watching the growth between her and her friends was really well done and really effective. The characters were well developed, deeply flawed, but by the end were able to talk out their feelings and to have better meaningful relationships. The reader wasn’t expecting to love Wendy as much as they did, but she’s messy, yet funny and just the epitome of being young and unsure of the world at large. All of the characters in Wendy’s life were interesting, some characters really pulled on the satirical aspect of art which the reader enjoyed because they thought it to be comical. The art in this graphic novel was so well drawn that it brought out the stories and it strongly drove the emotions in the characters. The reader is now obsessed with Wendy and want to read more of her adventures.
