A Test of Wills by Charles Todd
2.0

I love mysteries based in that in-between-the-world-wars time period, and I'm a sucker for a detective who is flawed or haunted. So I eagerly picked up this first book in the Ian Rutledge series. I liked it, but the pacing dragged, and the ending didn't seem to fit with the story as it was laid out. Friends who have read more in this series tell me that the writing gets better in later books, so I will probably continue reading the series. Ian Rutledge, who is haunted by the snarky/smart voice of a man he was forced to kill, is an interesting choice for a detective.
