化物語 2 Bakemonogatari 2 by Oh! Great, Oh! Great, NISIOISIN, 大暮維人

hard for me to treat this as independent of the anime, but

I like how more explicit this comic adaptation is of the psychological nature of the the world and characters is narrative-wise

I also appreciate how the characters have similar appearances to the anime but many of them (particularly Hanekawa in my mind) have a unique beauty in their look and facial expressions.

being a comic, certain asides and self-deprecations and moments are allowed to linger in single key panes rather than the fast elusive visual motifs of the show. It's interesting to see different ways the Brechtian nature of the storytelling comes across in different mediums.

The story is as classic, sweet, and problematic as ever, and the art holds up to the beauty, detail, and dynamism of the anime
