I'll take any number of world building monologues and info dumps over whatever the fuck this was... I usually enjoy reading challenging books, but this gave me nothing in return. Unfortunately, I bought the second book prior to starting the first one and will thus be giving Malazan a second shot. Guess I'll see how stupid a decision that was...
