I borrowed this book from the library on a whim and I can say that it was a slow, stubborn start and ramped up real fast towards the 75% mark.
It took a while for me to warm up to Sam because of her logic-based, practical, preference for what she believes is tangible nature, but I like how characters that surround her really round her character arc out. A really well balanced cast, I'd say.
I like the almost cosmic horror-esque nature of the monsters in this novel. Just something about a deep, dark but familiar and not too far away terror that hits just right.
