The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk

informative tense slow-paced

3.0

Book club read. Although this was incredibly informative and well-written, I found myself asking who the intended audience was. It's very research-heavy, but not dense enough to be a textbook. It's certainly too triggering and dense to be a roadmap for trauma survivors. The author has a tone of academic elitism that was...unexpected. I still recommend it, but at least for me, it was a very different book than what I expected.
