Know My Name by Chanel Miller

challenging dark emotional informative inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

**Listened to this book and it was just as impactful as the last time that I read it. It was nice listening to Chanel tell her story and because I'm used to her voice (I follow her on social media and have seen her at an event) her voice was a familiar one.**

Chanel Miller is the woman that was sexually assaulted by Brock Turner and was known as Emily Doe. The case was very publicized and then her Victim Impact Statement went viral. In this book Chanel details the assault, her case, and how she felt going through everything.

I remember reading her Victim Impact Statement and being blown away by it and how well written it was. I knew that I would want to read this book. Chanel is a talented writer. Reading this novel felt like I got a more balanced account of what actually happened in her trial instead of what the media presented. It is heartbreaking to hear what she went through and how she was treated. The book makes you furious at points, but I do believe that Chanel has a strong voice that will give a lot of hope to many women.
