what compelled me most as this came to a close was the notion of community. there was too much repetition of some of the visuals (in the sense that it tired me to read about the waves on the shore from the lonely island/castle/etc. over and over), but this was also nice in the sense that all the characters really do seem to live in the same world together. I don’t know another book that has a sense of community like that, and so I appreciated it. it would be a perfect book if it had been shorter or longer, but I think the length of it is a little unsatisfying to me for the stories that it covers.
