Pretty Woman by Fern Michaels
2.0

I have to give this 2 1/2 stars.
While I thought it was pretty good - and enjoyed the romance side of it I did not think it was great. The overall resolution was too sudden and without much lead in. The horrible protagonist suddenly had a mind altering change of heart while eating an Italian take out dinner - hmmm, I thought there should have been a bit more on Kent's part. I also felt that the "Martha" storyline was a bit funny, and did not really fit in with the feel of the book. My biggest complaint however was the focus on weight loss! The implication was the Rosie would not be happy unless she was thin. RUBBISH! Michael's should have focused on the physical fitness and well being, along with the emotional well, being that getting getting in shape and becoming healthier provides. I thought the calorie count and tracking of pounds lost was unnecessary, and perhaps a negative influence for some. Losing weight does not necessarily make you a better and happier person, and I felt that was the underlying message in this story. Too bad Ms Micheals, there are so many other ways that women can be encouraged to improve their lives!
