Brooke Shields is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on aging as a woman by Brooke Shields
I tend to really enjoy a celebrity memoir in my ears in the summer. I listened to this one while getting ready to head home for a memorial service. While it wasn’t the juicy Hollywood gossip I associate with this kind of book, it was a really good listen. Just as the title implies, this is about being a woman of a certain age and the author’s experiences. I just turned 40 so I’m not quite where she’s at. However, a lot of what she said resonated with me (sending my eldest to college next month) and I found it really helpful and inspiring to hear her stories. Did some of the book feel like a sales pitch for her company? Yes. But that’s fine with me, especially since her company is specifically to help women in mid and later life, so it felt appropriate. Also it’s her book so she can do whatever she wants. There’s a decent amount of swearing to reader, know thyself. I really enjoyed this memoir and am curious who else has read it?
