I started to read the books cause of the show. I loved the show so much that I was curious how it was all written down. I loved the book but I think I would've loved it more, or have had more patience with it if I had read it before watching it. 
Beautiful story, amazing world building, crazy character development (loved Mrs. Coulter!), definitely a must read!
