ARC Review

Eve has always been the rebel child in her family. Drinking, having a secret boyfriend, and constantly pushing the boundaries. She recently graduated high school and is not sure what she wants to do with her life. What she does know is that she wants everyone around her to stop treating her like a child. When her new neighbor, Kyle, and his son move in, she can’t help being drawn to him. She volunteers to babysit Kyle’s son in hopes of getting closer to him.
Kyle is a single dad and the new high school football coach. When he meets Eve, he feels an instant connection. She reminds him of himself at her age. There is no doubt that Kyle is attracted to Eve, but she’s the preacher’s daughter and 10 years younger. He has to think about his son as well.
The more Kyle sees how Eve is with his son the less he is able to resist his growing feelings for her. But with their families and the possibility of ruining their reputations in the town, would being in a relationship be worth the risk? Not to mention Eve’s been hiding a secret that could turns everyone’s lives upside down.

I loved this book! I loved Eve and Kyle’s story! Eve was care free and sweet. There were times where she showed a maturity that was greater than her age and there were times where she acted like an 18 year old. I liked how Kyle felt that Eve brought out a younger version of himself. I liked how protective Kyle was of her. I loved their banter. I was giggling for like the first 60% of the book then the last 40% or so gutted me. I could not stop crying. Learning what caused Eve to use the coping mechanism she did broke my heart. I’m glad that she eventually embraced the help she really needed. Jewel did a wonderful job with Eve and Kyle’s story. I can’t wait to read Gabby’s story!
